Arise Fashion Week opens its walk way in Lagos for designers such as, House of Nwocha (NG), Kiki Kamanu (US), House of Frarrah (NG) , Viv La Resistance (NG), Nikki Khiran (NG), Toju Foyeh (NG), Madam Wokie's Couture (Sierra Leone), Ejiro Amose Tafiri (NG), Christie Brown (Ghana) Eki Orleans (UK) Maki Oh (NG) Buki Akib (UK), Ituen Basi (NG) Korto Momolu (Liberia/US), Bridget Awosika (NG), Amine Bendriouich Couture &BS (Morocco), Okunoren Twins (NG) Jewel By Lisa (NG), Mustafa Hassanali (Tanzania) and Tiffany Amber (Ng) to show case their wonderful collection of the season at the Federal Place Hotel. The closing music act for the evening was mastered by Naeto C.

Lagos Flood and Election

 Where is our refuge?

  Mid last year, some Lagos residence along the Ikorodu area of the state experienced flood which lasted for months.  Now, the atmosphere is taking over with election drums. I am yet to see any of the aspirants seeking for the number one seat of the State talking about such alarming situation and measurement they would put in place to avoid future occurrence if elected. We want the best man for the job to emerge. Yesterday it was the dog, Today who knows?

Jamaican duo Brick & Lace

The Jamaican duo Brick & Lace consisting of sisters, Nyanda and Nailah Thourborne, are signed to Akon’s record label. Their debut CD ‘Love Is Wicked’ is extremely unique. The girls are from Jamaica and this heavily influenced their music. The girls are very grateful for Akon and his help and they even consider him the third member of the group!

Wole Soyinka was born on 13 July 1934 at Abeokuta, near Ibadan in western Nigeria. After preparatory university studies in 1954 at Government College in Ibadan, he continued at the University of Leeds, where, later, in 1973, he took his doctorate. During the six years spent in England, he was a dramaturgist at the Royal Court Theatre in London 1958-1959. In 1960, he was awarded a Rockefeller bursary and returned to Nigeria to study African drama. At the same time, he taught drama and literature at various universities in Ibadan, Lagos, and Ife, where, since 1975, he has been professor of comparative literature. In 1960, he founded the theatre group, "The 1960 Masks" and in 1964, the "Orisun Theatre Company", in which he has produced his own plays and taken part as actor. He has periodically been visiting professor at the universities of Cambridge, Sheffield, and Yale. During the civil war in Nigeria, Soyinka appealed in an article for cease-fire. For this he was arrested in 1967, accused of conspiring with the Biafra rebels, and was held as a political prisoner for 22 months until 1969. Soyinka has published about 20 works: drama, novels and poetry. He writes in English and his literary language is marked by great scope and richness of words.
